Job Title: Course Developer 1
Department: Course Development
Location: Safety Council of SWLA
Reports To: Course Development Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary
Course Developer 1 designs, produces, and develops the necessary instructional materials for training courses.
Maintains current course materials as well as modify and improve them to meet Adult Learning Standards.
Conducts training needs analysis, develops exercises and training scenarios as well as performs assessment of training materials.
Ensures that all training objectives are accomplished, and issues are resolved with assistance from Course Development Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Quality of Curriculum Designs, develops, converts, and implements training programs to the multi-media format Prepares written scripts, outlines, and test questions for all training programs Basic ability to research, analyze data and present new information clearly and accurately.
Minimizes rework by limiting the number of bugs and editing identified during quality assurance testing An attention to detail and quality while recording audio, video and course training programs Other duties as assigned Curriculum Development Performs curriculum development, analyzes requirements, develops objectives and tests Sequences training objectives, recommends instructional design, methods, and media; identifies resource requirements Formulates training programs and procedures based on knowledge of identified training needs or changes in regulations procedure or services The ability to conduct research utilizing educational and government resources Other duties as assigned Project Schedules & Deadlines Communicate timelines and objectives clearly with course owners Communicate barriers to supervisor when unable to meet deadlines Follows through on commitments to meet all deadlines for deliverables.
Consistently maintains a high level of productivity and progress on scheduled assignments Identifies efficiencies and solutions to complete assignments while accomplishing project goals Training Requirements Refer to training requirements outlined by course owner within administrative (admin) rules in order to design the course within the identified parameters Evaluates programs to determine if existing courses and programs satisfy training requirements outlined in admin rules Other duties as assigned Teamwork & Continuous Improvement Makes valuable suggestions that increase effectiveness of the training and/or end up as final program components Collaborates with Course Development Supervisor, Director of HR & Course Development, and other members of the Safety Council team to plan and complete project tasks Identifies issues during testing to implement changes that improve on existing work Stay abreast of new developments, methods, and techniques in the training field Other duties as assigned Competencies High Level Computer Skills Thoroughness Time Management Communication Proficiency Collaboration Skills Writing Aptitude Problem Solving/Analysis Interpersonal Skills Results Driven Dependability Integrity Professionalism Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
An applicant must also be familiar with Adobe Photoshop, Audition, Premiere Pro, and InDesign.
Knowledge pertaining to Articulate Storyline is also preferred.
Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret and carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and sitting.
The employee may have to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
