gov ALLEN CORRECTIONAL CENTER Kinder, LA TEACHER – PROFESSIONAL UNCLASSIFIED Salary will be determined by the Allen Parish School Board pay plan for a 2080 hour work year, which will be based upon experience, certification, and education level.
THIS WILL BE FILLED AS AN UNCLASSIFIED POSITION.

Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections (DPS&C)/ Allen Correctional Center (ALC), located in Kinder, LA, is currently seeking a full-time Teacher for the Education Department.
The incumbent of this position will be responsible for providing instructional guidance and curriculum development for all offenders enrolled in ALC's HI-SET program, monitoring all students' attendance and compiling data.
The incumbent will also administer academic tests on a scheduled basis, determine if and when the student has successfully passed all pre-requisites for taking the final HI-SET exam, and then schedule the student for the next available HI-SET testing class.
This position is also responsible for monitoring all students' work on a daily basis and recommending placement from one level to another.

Monitor Student Progress.
Administer Practice HSE test and develop lesson plans for students in the HSE classroom.
Develop lesson plans for students in Pre-HSE using the TABE test reports and HSET Practice tests.
Review practice HSE tests and recommend testing, retesting, or removal for lack of progress.
Work with the Education Coordinator and HSE tester to arrange test dates.
Review TABE scores and make recommendations concerning continuation of education for Pre-HSE.
Observe tutors in lecture style and in group work.
Evaluate teaching ability.
Note how the tutors work on-on-one with students during assigned work time.
Report to the education director any tutor who is unable to teach the information.
Recommend tutor training in any area where tutors appear to have weaknesses.
Plan monthly tutor training in areas identified that are specific to HSE/Pre-HSE tutors.
Work individually with students who are experiencing difficulty in a given area, usually on tutor request but if you note a student is not progressing, take the initiative to work with the student to see if you can pinpoint the problem and help him work through it.
Keep eyes and ears open for anything going on in the school that is not related to education.
Warn the student or tutor who is engaging in such activity and remind them that school is for learning.
If the problem persists, report it to security and/or the education director.
Examples are working on casework or other materials not issued by the education department, drawing or doodling rather than working, sleeping in class, etc.
Fill in for Education Coordinator in her absence.
Keep SIS binder updated.
Input SIS data into the Work Ready U database.
Evaluate materials used for teaching and effectiveness of lesson plans, recommending to the education director or principal any needed changes.
Counsel new students assigned to her classrooms and develop long range plans.
Evaluate tutors every 12 months and submit them to Education Coordinator.
