The Senior Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and monitoring the performance of the instrumentation and field automation systems throughout their assigned areas.
The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Project teams to optimize the performance and reliability of the instrumentation and field automation assets within the areas of their responsibility.
Additionally, the Senior Instrument Engineer will provide technical leadership and mentor early career engineers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides leadership and technical support to operations, maintenance, and capital project groups to ensure improvements in instrument reliability and to resolve repetitive instrument-related problems Plans and directs work, provides technical training, establishes goals and objectives and sets priorities Leads and coordinates engineering work assignments and workload using accepted engineering practices Coordinates with instrument maintenance department and operations, to plan and execute reliability objectives for the plant Interface with project engineering to gain additional support and resources when needed as well as provide technical input Work to improve reliability of process control valves.
Develop plans for monitoring performance and addressing problem areas.
Assist maintenance in development of repair/upgrade scopes for major turnarounds Provide mentorship and coaching in the areas of problem solving, creative thinking, and project planning skills to early career engineers Actively progresses the knowledge base of the department and works with the IE&C Superintendent to identify gaps within I&C reliability procedure Should be able to read instrument drawings, data sheets, I/O wiring diagrams, spec sheets, loop sheets, and P&ID’s to ensure proper documentation on instrument related equipment files, calibration sheets, etc.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS B.

or higher degree in Electrical Engineering Minimum of eight years of industrial experience and direct experience working with PLCs, process instrumentation and project design packages Conversant with relevant industrial codes, standards, and practices such as ISA, API, PIP, NEC, IEC, etc.
Should be experienced in the use of Microsoft Office application software Work well in a team environment, balance multiple projects, and have excellent communication skills to make effective technical presentations Analytical and problem solving skills Perform duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of others.
Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.
A current, valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office.
Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.
May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
