Dietary Food Service Worker
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Serves meals to visitors and staff of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and provides additional services as needed.
Serves patients meals and delivers to nursing unit.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Maintains the privacy, safety, and dignity of each customer by observing client confidentiality and by strictly adhering to safety and sanitation standards.
Respects hospital equipment and property.
Keep assigned work area, tools and equipment clean according to master cleaning schedule.
Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager
Conduct self in a calm and purposeful manner during stressful situations
Contributes to a non-discriminating, non-hostile environment
Completes assignments within the time constraints allowed
Communicates issues in regards to safety, patients, and/or uncomplicated tasks to peers, supervisors and subordinates as appropriate
Provides excellent customer service and maintains a positive attitude towards clients, customer, co-workers, hospital staff, etc.
Actively participates in unit/hospital cost saving and productivity initiatives.
Use resources efficiently.
Perform other duties and tasks as needed and assigned.
Concentration for Tray Line:
Ensures accuracy of food items being delivered to the patient and informs patient of meal selection and any therapeutic diet information.
Prepares, monitors and provides food by following appropriate menu, production and delivery schedules.
Delivers trays to nursing unit and/or patient’s rooms.
Concentration for Porters:
Operates the dish machine and maintains the cleanliness of the dish machine and surrounding area.
Checks temperatures, sanitation and soap dispensing levels.
Stores clean equipment and utensils
Empties garbage and moves to dump site.
Sweeps and mops floors
Concentration for Catering
Prepares and serves meals according to the catering calendar in a sanitary, efficient and timely manner
Concentration for Cafeteria
Serves meals to visitors and staff and provides additional services as needed
Concentration for Archer Institute
Prepares, monitors and delivers food by following appropriate menu, production and delivery schedules to patients
Concentration for Women’s
Serves meals to visitors and staff
Serves patient meals and delivers to nursing unit and/or patient rooms
Ensures accuracy of food items being delivered to the patient and informs patient of meal selection and any therapeutic diet information
Concentration for Diet Clerk
Performs clerical and routine tasks to complete the process of patient menus, diet and nourishment orders and/or changes

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to read dials and documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries and complaints from customers.
Ability to calculate simple mathematical equations.
Ability to understand and follow instructions
Ability to convey information to others that has been learned.
Ability to retain patterns of behavior once trained.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Work requires a variety of physical activities, including moving about within and outside of all hospital properties for long periods of time.
Must be able to exchange accurate information with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
